Sliema Wanderers Volleyball Club have recently reached an agreement and acquired the services of ex-Libyan National Team Coach, International Expert and Instructor with the FIVB (Federation Internationale de Volleyball), Mr Rezk Shebani.Mr. Shebani will join Maltese experienced Coach Mr. Charles Gauci, who needs no introduction to the local Volleyball scene. Together Mr. Shebani and Mr. Gauci will not only lead Sliema's Senior Female Team but will also be responsible for the development and strengthening of the Youth Sector, a flagship nursery in the local Volleyball environment.Having been involved in Volleyball, both as a player and subsequently as a coach and technical expert since the mid 1970's, Mr. Shebani boasts an impressive curriculum.
Throughout his extensive career he has held numerous prestigious positions including Coach for the Libyan National Team, General Coordinator for the Committee of Volleyball Coaches in Libya and Chairman of the Committee of Volleyball Coaches in Libya.Sliema Wanderers Volleyball Club president Mr. Kris Croker said he is "thrilled that the Club has reached this agreement and that Mr. Shebani chose to embrace our project. I have no doubt that his international experience and technical expertise in the game of Volleyball can only help our Club make the qualitative leap in the right direction, for the good of our Youth and Senior teams alike. We will be working hard together to develop our game to new heights," he continued. Libya is currently ranked 18th in the FIVB World Ranking with its Men's Under 23 National Team.
Besides also being a licensed FIVB Instructor, Mr. Shebani holds a Diploma in Mathematical Sciences, a Higher Diploma in Telecommunications & Wireless and Business Management & Human Resources with various Europe-based Universities.Sliema Wanderers Volleyball Club would like to inform the general public that registrations for the U10 and U14 Youth categories and Social Volleyball for the upcoming season 2016/2017 are currently open.
