The Office for Consumer Affairs within the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority is investigating the delayed screening of Premier League matches on the GO Sports Channel in order to ensure that no consumer rights are being infringed.

In a statement, the authority said it called a meeting with GO representatives. GO explained that the delayed screening is a by-product of a policy implemented by the Premier League itself.

As part of its investigations the Office for Consumer Affairs has solicited a formal statement from the Premier League. Once in receipt of feedback, the Office for Consumer Affairs will take the necessary steps accordingly.

In the interim period the Office said it will endeavour to further continue its investigations in order to ensure the highest level of protection of Maltese consumers. 

Consumers have complained that only one English Premier League match is being shown live on Saturdays at 4pm, with the rest of the games being shown later. Until last season, all Premier League games were shown live. Consumers said that Go never informed its clients about the change.
