No one was injured when a sailing yacht sank at Fekruna Bay in Xemxija earlier today.

The vessel, the Nina Mia, is understood to have slipped its mooring lines in the high waves before running aground on some rocks and eventually sinking to the bottom.

Concerned witnesses launched an appeal to identify and inform the owner on the social media.

An Armed Forces of Malta rescue launch was dispatched to the site and its crew confirmed that no one was aboard the yacht at the time of the incident.
