A 66-year-old woman has died in hospital after falling ill on a boat in Comino.

The woman, who is from Pieta`, reportedly lost consciousness at around 4:30pm. She was ferried to the Gozo General Hospital by an AFM Alouette helicopter.

The police were later informed that the woman had lost her life.

An autopsy will be carried out to determine the exact cause of death.

Magistrate Paul Coppini is holding an inquiry.
