Premier Capital plc, the Maltese-owned developmental licencee for McDonald's in six European markets, has inaugurated the 68th restaurant in Romania. This is the first new restaurant to open since Premier Capital was granted the developmental licence for the brand in Romania last January.

The restaurant, the 33rd in Romania's capital Bucharest, occupies a total 118 square metres at the newly opened ParkLake shopping mall where numerous major brands have also secured a presence. The 70,000-square metre shopping mall on the eastern part of the city is one of the most desirable commercial locations in Bucharest for its catchment population. Its location in the Titan district has a population density of 30,000 people per square kilometre, one of the highest in Europe.

Featuring the striking Mall Façade styling, the McDonald's restaurant at ParkLake is the first in Romania to immediately operate the 'Made For You' customer service system that allows crew to prepare all meals at the time of order according to customers' requests. It also features the first McCafe in a Romanian mall. More than 60 jobs were created for this new restaurant. Every day, 4,400 crew serve more than 190,000 customers at a McDonald's restaurant in 21 cities in Romania.

Premier Capital is the developmental licence for McDonald's in Estonia, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta and Romania, operating 133 restaurants with a team exceeding 7,000 people. More than 100 million customers are served every year across Premier Capital's footprint, generating annual revenue of €230 million.

Premier Capital is to open two more restaurants in Romania and two in Greece before the year's end.

"Premier Capital took over the Romanian market with a strong commitment to fulfil its potential in efficient timeframes," Victor Tedesco, Managing Director at Premier Capital plc, explained.

"We are applying the extensive experience we have gained across our footprint and mobilising our senior team to support the growth and the modernisation of the Romanian market. More restaurants will be converted to adopt the Made For You customer service system in Romania in the next few months. We are also directing considerable investment to our other markets where our expansion plans are progressing at a steady pace," Mr Tedesco said.
