The Leader of the Opposition is facing increasing criticism from his own party. Not from hard-core supporters but from within the Executive Council itself and well-known PN leaning columnists in the independent newspapers, and even from one who had contested the PN leadership contest when Dr Simon Busuttil was elected leader.

It is very easy to find the reason for all this criticism. The way Simon Busuttil keeps contradicting himself with statements he seems to make off the cuff is obviously embarrassing intelligent PN voters besides those I have already mentioned.

Let me give just one clear example. Simon Busuttil has been saying that the wealth created by this government over the last three years benefitted only a few people who are close to the PL government. On Sunday 21 August, Simon Busuttil forgot what he had been saying for so long and said that the prime minister had already announced that the next budget will include measures which will benefit everybody. According to the Leader of the Opposition, this is being done in order to stop people from criticising this government!

Dr Busuttil has to decide whether this government creates wealth to benefit the few or creates wealth for everyone “in order to stop people from criticising the government” No wonder intelligent PN voters are openly criticising their own leader who they now consider as an embarrassment to their party.
