A group of employees from Mapfre Middlesea and MSV Life participated in an event at Xrobb l-Ghagin Park on Thursday 28 October. The event was held in collaboration with Nature Trust Malta.
Xrobb l-Għaġin Nature Park, situated within the locality of Marsaxlokk, consists of over 155,000 square meters with scenic views of South East Malta.
Nature Trust Malta is a non-profit and non-governmental environmental organization which works to protect plants and animals in the Maltese Islands, helping to save from extinction some of the local endemic species. The NGO works on site management and habitat restoration, education and wildlife rescue among others.
In Xrobb l-Ghagin, Nature Trust maintains the protection of existing natural habitats, namely garigue, steppe and endemic cliff communities as well as afforestation of over 15,000 trees with indigenous trees and shrubs within degraded areas.
Adjacent to the Nature Park is a Sustainable Development Centre which is maintained solely using renewable energy, through wind turbines and photovoltaic panels and the use of treated wastewater and collected rain water. The site also uses natural daylight and ventilation.
"The work being carried out by environmental NGOs such as Nature Trust Malta is indispensible. The protection of the environment and wildlife is extremely important and we need to do our part," Assistant General Manager Fernando Dacampo said.
The Group supports Nature Trust Malta.
