Surgeon Kevin Schembri appointed as acting CEO of Mt Carmel

Surgeon Kevin Schembri has been appointed acting CEO of Mt Carmel Hospital, after the post was vacated by PL MP Clifton Grima.

Mr Schembri is a resident specialist in cardiothoracic surgery at Mater Dei Hospital.

Mr Schembri graduated in medicine from the University of Malta in 1992. He was granted a fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1999. In 2004 he was granted a fellowship from the European Board of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons.

At present, he is working on a PHD in genetics at the University of Malta.

Dr Clifton Grima, who occupied the post since 2014, resigned after being elected to Parliament following former Minister Leo Brincat's appointment to the European Court of Auditors.
