Europe must be closer to its people – Simon Busuttil and EP President Antonio Tajani

Opposition leader Simon Busuttil remarked that newly elected European Parliament (EP) President Antonio Tajani, who visited the Nationalist Party (PN) headquarters today, is a genuine friend and truly understands Malta’s realities.

Dr Busuttil praised President Tajani for his recent appointment as President of the EP, and thanked him for his dedication and commitment to Europe.

President Tajani thanked the PN for its MEPs and their contribution to the European Parliament, adding that Malta truly understands the problems surrounding EU institutions and the need to be closer to the people. He remarked that good intentions are not enough, and concrete action must be taken.  

Dr Busuttil was accompanies by PN general secretary Rosette Thake, international secretary Trevor Degiogio, head of the PN’s EP delegation David Casa and speaker for foreign affairs Tonio Fenech.
