Thursday, 2 February 2017, 19:13 Last update: about 9 years ago

Salvu Mallia and his dog Daschund together with three other PN candidates walked down Republic Street in a protest against government. Mr Mallia together with David Thake, Wayne Hewitt and Charlot Cassar were this evening holding signs alleging government corruption. These signs portrayed Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, Minister Konrad Mizzi and Chief of Staff Keith Schembri as worms in a rotten apple.

They held this protest on the eve of the EU Summit meeting. The four men also had placards saying that the Prime Minister, Minister Mizzi and Mr Schembri are the KKK (Klikka Korotta Kastilja (Castille Corrupt Clique) over allegations related to the Panama Papers scandal that were revealed a year ago. This silent protest which started from Parliament to the Grand Palace saw Mr Mallia wearing a panama hat.

When the silent protest ended Mr Mallia said that the EU leaders coming tomorrow must do something to protect the Maltese people against this "corrupted government".

Asked by this newsroom if the Nationalist Party is organising this protest a spokesperson from the PN said that it was an initiative by candidates themselves.
