The magnificence of Fort St Elmo had a media make-over as organisers prepared to receive more than 950 accredited journalists from various news agency from all across Europe.
Security is tight and journalists have to go through the usual scanning to get to one of the 11 media booths that have been installed in the Fort.
The Summit tomorrow will be discussing migration, among other things. The debate will be themed 'External Dimension of Migration' and the 28 EU States leaders are expected to have a busy day ahead.
Friday's Summit will consist of two main parts. In the morning, the EU state leaders will be heading to the old Parliament building in Valletta to participate in the summit led by the Maltese Presidency. The leaders will be also discussing the migration routes, mainly Libya and the Mediterranean.
Later that day, leaders will be meeting to discuss the preparations for the 60th anniversary of the Rome Treaties.
Translators will be brought to translate the whole session into the 23 different official languages of the EU. Journalists will be able to work in one of the 250 work stations purposefully set up and equipped for the media.
The Mediterranean Conference Centre will be hosting the press conferences after the Summit.
