A Nigerian man named Hassan Jebrel was denied bail after he was found throwing away a bag filled with 31g of suspected cannabis, allegedly for the purposes of drug trafficking.
The 33-year-old resident of the Marsa Open Centre threw the bag away as he saw members of the Rapid Intervention Unit approaching the compound.
A further 24g of cannabis resin was also found, allegedly for the purposes of drug trafficking.
Magistrate Monica Vella, presiding over the case, denied bail on the grounds that the accused had no fixed address. Legal aid Yanica Bugeja represented the accused while Inspector Malcolm Bondin prosecuted.
