A 49-year-old man from Fgura has fended off accusations that he injured his wife during an argument, and is now out on bail against a €2,000 personal guarantee.
The incident allegedly took place yesterday, while the man has pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.
It has been observed that the injury took place after the man was attempting to keep his wife away from him, as she had apparently become aggressive. The woman walked away from the scuffle.
The defence council stressed that in 21 years of marriage, the police failed to receive a single report regarding domestic abuse coming from their matrimonial home in Fgura.
In addition to granting the accused bail, Magistrate Francesco Depasquale, presiding over the case, ordered the man to sign a bail book once a week, move out of his matrimonial home and also issued a protection order in favour of the victim.
Inspector Hubert Cini prosecuted. Lawyer Stefano Filletti represented the accused.
