Watch: Muscat ignores invitation to be interviewed on INDEPTH

Tuesday, 30 May 2017, 10:03 Last update: about 8 years ago

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat has ignored repeated invitations to be interviewed on The Malta Independent’s online programme INDEPTH.

The Prime Minister was asked to take part in an edition of the programme in the last week of the election campaign. But Muscat ignored the invitation.

His political counterpart, Simon Busuttil, was interviewed last week.

The Malta Independent had invited Muscat for the first time in January. That time, Muscat had sent a text message to Pierre Portelli, TMI Director of Content, to say he “will not beat around the bush. No”.

This time round, we got no reply.

Muscat has also turned down an invitation to take part in a debate organised by The Malta Independent, The Times and MaltaToday during this election campaign.

An invitation has also been sent to the Prime Minister’s wife, Michelle Muscat, for an interview to be published in The Malta Independent. No answer was received from both her PA and the OPM communications chief.

Muscat and his wife are embroiled in a magisterial inquiry following revelations that she is the owner of a company opened in Panama. They deny the accusations.
