UIM Class VI World Powerboat Championship: Chaudron wins opening day races

55 Chaudron, the 41-footer Maltese entry challenging for the UIM Class VI World Powerboat Championship had a fantastic start on the first of the 3-days Event.

With Aaron Ciantar as driver and Frenchman Dominique Martini as throttle-man, 55 Chaudron  opened up the day’s appointment by winning the Class VI pole position with a good timing of 3’09.66.

Following this encouraging start Aaron and Dominique even went on to win the first race of the Championship on 36’21.2 followed by the Italian boat Tommy One on 38’03.0, with Karl Piu’ (Italy) on 38’47.4 in third place.

The Class VI classification after the first day reads; 1. 55 Chaudron (Malta) 20 points; 2. Tommy One (Italy) 15 pts; 3. Karl Piu’ (Italy) 12 pts; and 4. Searex Baltec (Germany) 9 pts.

The 2017 UIM World Powerboat Championships for Class I, Class VI and Class 3D are being contested by more than 25 teams from various nationalities as part of the ‘Grand Prix of Italy’ and held at Chiaggio about 25 kilometres south of Venice.
