San Giljan’s up-and-coming Ben Plumpton is joining Italy’s Posillipo for the coming season, the club announced.
Plumpton, 19 years of age, played a determining factor in this year’s triumphs for San Giljan, who won all four waterpolo competitions, winning all their games.
He will now spend the winter in Naples, with a club that has won the Italian championship 11 times in its history as well as three Euro Leagues.
Italian media report that Plumpton will be playing regularly for Posillipo’s Under 20 squad with a possibility of being included in the seniors’ team.
Plumpton last year played in Serbia. Three other San Giljan players are spending their winter playing waterpolo in Serbia: Andreas Galea, Darren Zammit and Mattias Ortoleva.
