EntroPay Services is sponsoring a scholarship award for the Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence, offered by the University of Malta. Ayrton Azzopardi was selected as the Scholarship Awardee since he was one of the top-performing students who graduated with a BSc AI Degree, offered by the Department of AI at the Faculty of ICT in 2017.

The scholarship, through the Research Innovation and Development Trust, shall cover the applicable tuition fees for the programme of studies offered in academic year 2017/2018.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Mark Anthony Spiteri on behalf of EntroPay Services, by University rector, Prof. Alfred J. Vella and by Scholarship awardee Azzopardi, in the presence of the head of Department of AI, Prof. Alexiei Dingli and Wilfred Kenely, CEO RIDT.

With a shortage of 600 ICT workers just in Malta and a shortage of one million ICT professionals in the rest of Europe, companies in Malta are investing in Artificial Intelligence to gain a cutting edge in fields such as Digital Games, Virtual Reality, Robotics, Financial Technologies, Big Data, Creative Technologies, Text Processing and Computer Vision.

Most of these areas are extremely important since they have been endorsed by the major political parties and have been earmarked as being the new economies, which the country will focus on, in the coming years.
