An all female group calling themselves Occupy Justice have decried a "nation shackled by impunity" and are calling on constitutional reform.

Spurred on by the murder of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, the group has called on the Police Commissioner Lawrence Cutajar and the Atorney General Peter Grech to be replaced by new ones, "non-divisive" figures who enjoy the trust of 2/3 of Parliamentary MPs.

Maria Pisani, from the Integra NGO in support of human rights in this protest, said "We are an ever-increasing non-partisan group of women from all walks of life. We are concerned for our future and that of our children. This is not the Malta we recognise, not the Malta we want to leave to them. The horrendous assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia has exposed beyond doubt the worrying state of our nation, a condition brought about by the the failure of government to recognize the importance of good governance and robust institutions," she added.

The activist also said that many are now seeing the "glaring need for change".

Last Sunday, a national protest resulted in a group of protestors stopping outside the police headquarters demanding the resignation of the commissioner. A banner, which has been laid at today's protest, was tied to the police headquarters where the resignation of the commissioner was demanded.

"It is time to hold our Government, our political parties and our parliament to account. We need to restore faith in the proper functioning of our institutions and democracy. For this to be done and to be seen to be done, our leaders need to act and quickly.

 The AG, and the Commissioner of Police, need to be replaced with non-divisive, competent persons who enjoy the trust of all. Recent history has demonstrated that too often this is not the case. But let us make no mistake. Their removal is not enough: and this goes to the heart of our democracy and the strength of our institutions. Our key institutions cannot be held hostage by our political class, they must be, and importantly be seen to be independent and upholding the rule of law."

The protest has been aided and supported by the Civil Society Network. One of the organizers, Pia Zammit discussed with the activists on who will be camping outside Castille tonight, tomorrow night and Saturday night. The event was also addressed by known activist and academic Andrea Dibben, who commented that the public lost faith in the competence of the police commissioner and the attorney general.

During this protests the family of Daphne Caruana Galizia sent over pizzas for the protestors with Bay leaves on them as it represents strength, courage and victory
