My wife Diane and I will be sure to follow instructions about addressing any outstanding issues regarding citizenship by continuing to work closely with the Maltese Embassy in Washington to conclude this process in the best manner possible.
The Embassy personnel have been extraordinarily responsive and supportive, answering all correspondence promptly with cogent, accurate information. They have also worked closely with their counterparts in Valletta, so we anticipate a positive outcome soon.
When that occurs, hopefully by this spring, Diane and I will return to Malta with our family and document the celebration of our rich heritage. At that time, we will write a follow-up for The Malta Independent on Sunday, exploring identity on a deeper, more substantive level.
