Daves supermarket encourages blood donation

Tuesday, 6 February 2018, 11:01 Last update: about 7 years ago

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, Daves is supporting efforts to encourage blood donation and is providing post-donation snacks to blood and platelet donors.

"Our mission at Daves is to change people's lives and we are glad to be supporting the National Blood Transfusion Service to help them further their noble work," said David Grech, managing director at Daves. "Putting our responsibilities to the communities we serve, is at the heart of what we do.  Having a snack or a sweet pastry after donating blood is important and we are proud to offer something special, to give blood donors a little bit of extra energy after donating blood," continued David.

"We rely on the generosity of our regular donors," said Tony Micallef, Practice nurse in charge of donor liaison. "Blood donations aren't used just for accidents and operation procedures, but also for patients with cancer and blood disorders for whom the highest blood transfusions are administered to," continued Tony while thanking Daves for such a noble gesture.

Daves supermarkets cater for a wide choice of products and a more focused supermarket shopping experience, revolving around the idea to better satisfy the everyday needs of their clients.

The National Blood Transfusion Service continuously strives to ensure an adequate supply of blood for all the hospitals on our islands.
