A Serb construction worker has fallen out of a one-storey balcony onto Mrabat Street, St Julian’s, late this morning.

The 32-year-old man, who was carrying out works together with other construction personnel on house in Mrabat Street, was taken to Mater Dei Hospital by an ambulance that was immediately called on the scene.

Eyewitnneses said that initially, he could not breathe, but after being given assistance he remained conscious until paramedics arrived. The police later said that the man suffered serious injuries. The accident happened when part of the balcony collapsed.

The street was cordoned off by members of the Rapid Intervention Unit and district police.
