We are very concerned by the fact that while the importance of ethics has been recognized to the extent that it is being taught in primary schools, there seems to be no serious attempt for such ethical discourse to take place on serious public policy issues. With reference to the proposed amendments to the 2012 Embryo Protection Act, we urge the government to not rush but rather to promote a genuine deliberation which processes inputs from experts in all relevant fields on foreseeable effects, as befitting an issue concerning the most basic human values.
