San Giljan won their fourth Winter League - the third in a row - and registered their 40th consecutive win in a surprisingly hard-fought encounter against Sirens Greentube who gave them a real run for their money.
Sirens Greentube started the game in fine form and scored two goals from veterans Clint Mercieca and Charles Zammit. San Ġiljan immediately reduced the arrears when Ben Plumpton hit home from a man-up situation, something which Sirens did not manage to repeat seconds later.

However, San Giljan recovered in the second session to take the lead through a Matthew Zammit brace. The third session began with San Giljan pulling further away through Andreas Galea but John Brownrigg again made it a one goal match from a counter attack. Dino Zammit re-established a two-goal lead for San Giljan with a fine strike.
The fourth session started with Dino Zammit missing a penalty. John Brownrigg scored a beauty to keep the encounter on a knife edge. Isiah Riolo equalized to bring Sirens level, but San Giljan again retook a two-goal lead through Matthew Zammit and Ben Plumpton. Jacob Sciberras reduced the deficit again, but San Giljan held on to register their 40th consecutive win and another Winter League Trophy.

Sliema Frank Salt eked out third place in the Winter League standings in a spirited encounter against eternal rivals Neptunes Leo Vegas winning by nine goals to seven with the final session crucial. In fact Sliema turned a two goal deficit into a two goal victory by winning the final session by four goals to nil.
Sliema took the first session 2-1 with Matthias Azzopardi opened the scoring for Neptunes. Zach Mizzi and Michael Spiteri Staines replied for Sliema. The second session saw Neptunes gain the upper hand winning 4-2. Jordan Camilleri and Jake Muscat scored for Neptunes with David Fenech and Nicholas Bugelli replying for Sliema. However, two goals by Gabriel Pace and Jordan Camilleri put Neptunes ahead by a single goal at the half way point.
Neptunes increased their lead in the third session winning 2-1. Gabriel Pace and Jeremy Abela scored for the Balluta team with Mark Meli replying for Sliema.
Sliema managed to come back in the fourth session retracing the deficit to win 4-0 with goals from Michael Spiteri Staines (2), Michael Cordina and Jerome Gabarretta for a final score of 9-7.
