World Health and Medical Games Organising Team appoint Sports Ambassadors.
The World Health and Medical Games Organising Team have announced the appointment of Sports Ambassadors for the forthcoming 39th World Health and Medical Games which will take place in Malta between the 16th and 23rd June.
During this time, Malta will be hosting approximately 1,200 athletes competing across twenty six disciplines. Maltese athletes will also be taking part and the organising team have asked local Federations supporting these Games to nominate a Games Ambassador.
The appointed Games Ambassadors are well known and made significant contributions within their respective fields and also active sportspersons within their field of play. The Ambassadors will be helping to promote the Games and encourage colleagues to take part.
The Games Ambassadors were announced earlier on this week and include Victor Calvagna (Triathlon), Ivan Esposito, Joseph Castillo (Judo), David Debono (Golf), Mario Mifsud (Powerlifting) and Jessica Pace (Table Tennis).
“We are very proud to announce our Games Ambassadors – they are all high achievers in their fields of play and in their role of Ambassadors, these athletes will be promoting the spirit of the Medical Games as well as motivating other athletes to take part” explained Pierre Chicco, Sport Director.
The events, which will take place in various locations around Malta, are expected to generate the interest of the local population due to the fact that most events will be spectator friendly.
“We are now in the final throes of logistical preparation – twenty six disciplines are not easy to organise however with the support of local Federations and organisations we are well on track to organise a very successful Games” – Jonathan Barbara, Sports Co-Ordinator.
