A goal in each half gave the Malta Under-17 team a deserved 2-0 win over Frosinone's youth side in a warm-up match at the Ferentino Sports Complex on Friday.

Jake Engerer, who is on the books of Italian club Cesena, fired Malta ahead on 26 minutes and St Andrews striker Mattia Veselji sealed the win when converting a penalty nine minutes into the second half.

Led by coach Noel Turner, the Maltese youngsters showed commendable organisation and composure to overcome the challenge of Frosinone.

Turner made use of most of the players in his 21-strong squad. The Malta U-17 team play their second friendly against Frosinone this Sunday.
