Tourists caught skinny dipping at Valletta beach as temperatures soar

Tuesday, 3 July 2018, 16:51 Last update: about 7 years ago

Beachgoers in Valletta got more than they bargained for on Tuesday morning when they witnessed a bit of unexpected skinny dipping.

The photo above, posted on the popular Malta Dizastru Totali Facebook page, reportedly taken in Valletta, shows two foreign women who found the heat too much to bear and stripped to their birthday suit.

One News said the police had not received any reports of nudity. Topless and nude bathing is illegal in Malta.

The photo led to a heated debate on Facebook, with some people saying that many tourists were taking things too far and other saying that there should not be such a big fuss over a few nude swimmers in a supposedly liberal country that had introduced same sex marriage and embryo freezing.
