The Teatrutal-Opra Aurora is proud to announce new artistic partnerships for the upcoming production of Tosca, to be staged on Saturday 13 October 2018.

The renowned opera stage director, Vivien Hewitt, who was announced a few weeks ago is set to raise the bar insofar artistic direction is concerned. Brought to life by camilleriparismode, the family firm that has been associated with luxury fabrics and high-end interiors since 1890, Aurora's Tosca will flaunt Luke Azzopardi costumes and sets designed by Andrew Borg Wirth as part of the brand's artistic involvement.

This collaboration brings a whole revolution to the way opera at the Aurora is constructed, particularly in its aesthetic language. This year's Tosca will be the fruit of artistic conversations and exchanges between renowned artists in their own right and might. Vivien Hewitt brings a wealth of experience and huge respect for opera tradition as the point of departure for something exciting that lends itself to new artistic expression. Luke Azzopardi, renowned for his luxurious bespoke couture, takes that lead and is wholly committed to applying a style that narrates the timeless story of Tosca as it embraces beauty and individuality, all the while keeping it spectacularly exciting.

Andrew Borg Wirth complements the production with his set designs. Inspired by the Baroque grandeur of Rome where the story unfolds, Borg Wirth is set to present a fresh geometry dedicated to making this new production a worthy contemporary take on a masterpiece that has stood the test of time.

The new Tosca is brought to life by camilleriparismode.

Enthusiasm and a keen commitment to bringing out the essence of an opera are the qualities that the artistic team is putting at the service of opera theatre and its audiences. It is with this in mind that the Aurora Opera House brought on board these artists to spearhead the design of the production to strengthen its standing in the artistic sector.

Tosca at the Aurora is part of the Gozo Cultural Support Programme, (within the Ministry for Gozo and Arts Council Malta) and is being supported by Valletta 2018 foundation as part of its cultural programme.

Tickets for the single performance of Tosca at the Aurora, on Saturday 13 October, and further information, are available from www.teatruaurora.com.
