The Roman Catholic Church is no longer credible when it tries to act as the guardian of morality after so many exposures of sexual abuse by priests and cover-ups by bishops behind its ‘holy doors’.

Even the credibility of its teachings is questionable. Consider what Catholics believe: God was born of a woman; was killed on a gibbet and can be consumed in a wafer. Add to this creed the beliefs that annihilated corpses will rise from the dead, Jesus and Mary levitated into the sky and innocent babies are born with sin.

As George Orwell said: ‘You can’t really be a Catholic and a grown-up!’
