A man was seriously injured after he was stabbed following an argument in Birkirkara, the police said.
The incident took place in Tumas Galea Street at 1.30pm.
The 20-year-old was stabbed with a knife or scissors.
When the police arrived at the scene the aggressor, aged 34, tried to escape and the officers shot twice in the air to stop him. He was later caught and also taken to hospital, where he is kept under police guard.
