In his vlog on the Malta Independent MEP Francis Zammit Dimech speaks on the importance for everyone to test their blood sugar level. He said that several people have diabetes but are not aware leading to catastrophic healthy consequences. Over the past week Zammit Dimech organised a debate on Diabetes and the family with the participation of diabetics and MEPs.

Zammit Dimech who is the EU Diabetes Working Group Co-chair recalled that over the past months he appealed to the Government to provide free continuous glucose monitors, provide free 4mm pen needles for children, provide free needles to diabetics including a lancet device, to ensure that a nurse is available at the Gozo General Hospital and for the introduction of a Parliamentary Committee on Diabetes. While welcoming the fact that the last 2 of such appeals have been tackled, the government still had a long way to go to tackle serious challenges faced by diabetics.
