BOV Tennis Masters Tournament 2018 launched

The BOV Tennis Masters Tournament 2018 is being held between the 17th and the 23rd December 2018. Traditionally the last tournament of the year, the tournament pits the top ranking 8 players in Malta.

The tournament was launched during a press conference held at the Marsa Sports Club and addressed by Dr David Farrugia Sacco, President of the Malta Tennis Federation and Charles Azzopardi, Executive PR and Marketing at Bank of Valletta.

Top seed Matthew Asciak will attempt to continue his unbeaten run in this Tournament. The winner of the last 5 editions, Asciak is expected to face some serious contenders for the title including last year's finalist Omar Sudzuka, as well as veteran Mark Gatt and former finalist Denzil Agius among the cream of the crop in Malta's Tennis.

'We look forward to close the year with a spectacle of tennis from Malta's top players which tournament we anticipate will be keenly contended by all particpants" said Dr Farrugia Sacco while thanking Bank of Valletta for its continued support. 'We are delighted to have such a star studded list of participants that features the current top players, veterans as well as upcoming youngsters who are the future of Maltese Tennis.'

'As a major supporter of sporting initiatives in Malta, the BOV Tennis Masters Tournament 2018 has cemented itself as the final tournament of the year that is supported by the Bank' said Charles Azzopardi. 'We are looking forward to see if Matthew Asciak can extend his dominant run or if we will crown a new champion just before Christmas.

The BOV Tennis Masters Tournament 2018 is being hosted by the Marsa Sports Club.  The players will be split into two groups of four playing round robin with the top 2 players from each group contesting the semi-finals, with the final being held on Sunday 17th December 2018. Full fixtures will be drawn and published shortly.
