In his vlog MEP Francis Zammit Dimech speaks about the recent migration crisis whereby 49 migrants (including 5 children) are stranded on two boats close to the Maltese coast. He says that Europe is based on the value of solidarity, so one can only be very saddened when witnessing what is happening in front of our eyes. According to Zammit Dimech this situation requires putting at the forefront the humanist and solidarity values, which have always been at the core of what Europe is all about.

Therefore, it is important that the EU Member States know how to deal with this situation, having in mind empathy and solidarity with those in greater need. MEP Zammit Dimech concludes his remarks by mentioning that only by acting together, Europe will be able to tackle correctly the challenging issue of migration, with courage, respect for human rights and dignity, with solidarity and humanitarian values. These values are also the solid foundation on which European Union should bass every action it takes, and these are the values which we should cherish and defend, says Zammit Dimech.
