A man was seriously injured when he was hit by a car in Ghaxaq this morning, the police said.

The accident happened at 6am in Dawret Hal Ghaxaq.

Preliminary investigations by the District Police found that a 63-year-old man who resides in Marsascala, was hit by a vehicle, make Ford Transit, driven by a 64-year-old man who resides in Fgura.

An ambulance was called on site and took the man to Mater Dei Hospital. Later, he was certified as suffering from serious injuries.

A Magisterial Inquiry has been appointed into the case while police investigations are still ongoing.
