Health: spend money on services not corruption

Francis Zammit Dimech Tuesday, 22 January 2019, 15:39 Last update: about 6 years ago

In his vlog MEP Francis Zammit Dimech speaks on the Vitals scandal, the company that took over 3 hospitals in Malta and Gozo. He said that one had to ask why a contract was signed with Vitals when the latter had no experience in the health sector.

Eventually this company whose owner is unknown left the deal with 50 million Euro in hand. He said that Vitals did nothing in Malta and Gozo to improve health services for citizens. He questioned why instead of following normal procedures and issuing tenders, all services for the three hospitals will now by exclusively offered by a company called Technoline.

He said that in the past months several diabetics had spoken to him about lack of services. In fact he had made a number of appeals to the government among which to provide continuous glucose monitors to type 1 diabetics but the government was still in the process of studying the proposal and doing the maths. He said that this was truly a case of double standards.

In his remarks Zammit Dimech referred to the ongoing case filed by PN leader Adrian Delia against Vitals for the corrupt deal to be declared null and said that it was imperative to keep on insisting to get to know the truth about such shady deals in the interest of the people of Malta and Gozo.
