European tax proposal in Socialist manifesto

Peter Agius Tuesday, 5 March 2019, 08:52 Last update: about 8 years ago

In his vlog from the University of Malta, Tajani speechwriter and MEP candidate Peter Agius puts into question the effectiveness of Labour MEPs to defend Malta’s interest in view of the fact that the Malta Labour Party does not manage to avert references to tax harmonisation and abortion in the Socialist’s European Manifesto.

"It is clear that Labour is losing influence within the European Socialists. The European Socialists want to diminish Malta’s competitive advantage by imposing a Europe wide corporate tax. Are we sure we want to strengthen the hand of these people to decide for us in Europe?" says the former head of the European Parliament office in Malta, Peter Agius.

"We should strengthen our voice within the EPP instead, the European People’s Party has always held the Maltese interest at heart and can be a vector through which we defend and promote the national interest following the European Parliament Election on 25 May," Agius concludes.
