Masters Football: Marsa keep chasing, Mosta almost there

Mario Meli Friday, 22 March 2019, 09:53 Last update: about 7 years ago

In the MAPFRE/MSV Life MASTERS PREMIER League, RABAT had an easy win of 10-1 against MELITA  to open their chances of finishing amongst the first three.  The win was made much easier against a depleted team, who in these last games is losing touch with the first two.   If they lose more points  they  might also lose  thheir chances of finishshing third.  Against Rabat they were a confused side. They still miss the goal scoring touch of Michael Galea still injured and other players. RABAT on the day they deserved to win with such score and it is a pity that they lost all the games in the first round. That  was very upset for the team as  playing at their best they coud challenge any team. They also have to be at their best in every game that  still remain to play.  Rabat had the return of Chris Muscat who recovered from injury . with the return of this talented player, along side such good players as  Antonio Camilleri who scored four, and the team in general be moe consisent, they can be a team vdy difficult to beat.

Also from the Premier Division,  WARDIJA were no match for the champions MARSA WHITE STARS and were  heavily beaten by 15-4. Up to the end of the first half  Marsa were leading  7-3 a good advantage but Wardija at that time  were competitive and were offering  resistance. But they crolled in the second half,   when they scored just one against the eight  of Marsa.  Ricardo Saverino was again the star, with a great performance and for the third tiime since he started playing with Marsa he scored seven goals in one  match, indeed a great player.  He is v ery talented, very fast and he takes every opportunity fors goal.   Of course he has the help of an other talented player Alexander Ribic,  a quiet  likelble player  who has  a great passion for the game.  Marsa were dominant  in the second half and Wardija were nowhere. Marsa are still chasing  Dingli for the title and it all depends on the  outcome of the last  games they have. Marsa are jusr one point behind, but Dingli has a game in hand.,

After last week's defeat by Targa Gap, MOSTA SHAGGY  returned to winning ways when they beat a depleted NAXXAR team 10-4  in the CISK MASTERS DIVISION ONE, to consolidate their first place in the standings.  They have a good lead over second placed TARGA GAP and as the end is approaching they are almost sure to return in the Premier division.  Without denying that they deserved their vctory, NAXXAR were not at full strenght and had such experienced players such as Victor Bellia and Sammy Gambin and others missing.  Besides their captain Mark Deguara was injured  at the end of first half and had to stop.  For Mosta Jeffrey Chetcuti returned and marshalled  the team from behind, whilst Leandros Calleja and Cedric Sciberras made it easy up infront to get the goals. Both are with a chance to finish as top scorers.
