Sunday's top game saw Sliema Hs stun leaders Qormi Daikin with a 5-1 score-line and joined them at the top of the League table.

Qormi Daikin started well but Sliema Hs. took an early lead with their first attack of the game through a gem of a goal when Christ Agius hit a bombshell into the top corner of the net from a tight angle.   On 16 minutes following a Qormi short corner Jonathan Borg doubled Sliema' s lead following a swift break and a few minutes later Ryan Dalli shot Hotsticks into a 3 - 0 lead which they held at half time.

Qormi came out strongly in the second half and after a series of short corners, on 45 minutes, reduced the arrears to 3 - 1 through Kyle Micallef.  They kept up the pressure hoping to crawl back into the game but Emile Borg in the Sliema goal was in fine form. Moreover, when he was beaten, a Sliema defender cleared on the line. Inevitably, Qormi left themselves exposed at the back and on 55 minutes, following another swift break Christ Agius grabbed his second and Hotsticks' fourth goal.   Silas Plaehn sealed the issue when he netted from one of Sliema's rare short corner moves a few minutes from the final whistle. Edward Hughes and Shawn Mifsud umpired the game.

In Sunday's first game Rabat and White Hart produced an interesting encounter with both teams playing open hockey throughout.   On 20 minutes Justine Pace Gasan netted to send Rabat into a 1 - 0 lead, the half time whistle blowing with Rabat hanging on to their slender lead.

Early into the second half, White Hart missed a couple of easy chances, which should have been gobbled up and were punished when Mario Galea grabbed Rabat's second goal, a lead that they held until the final whistle blew.   To their credit White Hart, fielding a crop of promising youngsters, still pressed forward and even had a penalty corner effort cleared off the line in the final stages of the game. James Mizzi and Nathan Galea umpired the match.

The National league continues on Sunday with both Leaders back in action. At 9:00am Qormi Daikin face Floriana Young Stars while at 11:00am Sliema Hs. face Rabat.
