The Grand Prix of England 2019, was organised last weekend in Heckmondwike.
Valletta Subbuteo Club had a successful weekend, first on Saturday in the individual categories and then on Sunday in the team's event.
Derek Conti won the Open Category whilst Jurgen Balzan won the U19 Category. Samuel Bartolo was also semifinalist in the Open Category.
In the team's event, Valletta Subbuteo Club played their semifinal against the Belgian team AS Hennuyer. It was a tough match which ended with the score of 2-1. The Final was played against the Austrian team TSC Royal 78 Kaisermuhlen. It was a very tight match with 2 draws on two tables with the same score of 2-2. The winning of Jurgen Balzan against Eliot Bellefontaine 3-0 and that of Samuel Bartolo against Alex Haas 1-0 brought the cup to Valletta Subbuteo Club with the final score 2-0.
Valletta Subbuteo Club was composed of Derek Conti, Samuel Bartolo, Jurgen Balzan, the English player Christian Short and Gerald Edwin Brightwell. Brightwell opened the score in this tournament, and the team moved forward until it reached the peak. The president Mr Felix Rizzo and the club secretary Monalita Balzan accompanied the team.
This was the 13th time that Valletta Subbuteo Club won a Grand Prix, 7 were won in Malta and 6 abroad.

Also, last weekend Massimo Cremona was participating in Rome. In the Open individual category, he made it to the quarter final, but won the team category with his team Napoli Fighters.
