Four days after Sirens' historic promotion to the Premier League, Gudja made it too to the Premier League for the first time in their history. It was the target Gudja's administration set from the start of the season, and under the guidance of Josef Mansueto they yesterday reached their goal.

Always among the front runners throughout the season Gudja's promotion was a deserved one, and they can still have a say for the title as Sirens slipped unexpectedly against Pembroke in the first match at Hamrun.

Needing the three points at stake to make sure of mathematical certainty, Gudja practically sealed it in the first thirty minutes, scoring three goals and with Naxxar even reduced to ten men. Dhonatan Santos Da Hora scored Gudja's opener after eleven minutes and on 25 minutes Naxxar's Mead Mifsud handled on the goal line and was shown the red card.

Jackson Lima scored from the resultant penalty and five minutes later Gudja scored a third goal. Almost against all odds Naxxar pulled one back before the break.

In the second half Gudja controlled the game brushing aside Naxxar's desperate attacks to get back in the game. Gudja went close a fourth goal on several instances, but the score remained locked till the end, and Gudja started their promotion celebrations.

Santa Lucia took full advantage of Naxxar's defeat at the hands of Gudja, by beating a never say die Vittoriosa side and move three points clear in third place in the standings.

With Sirens and Gudja already promoted, Santa Lucia are now aiming for third place in the standings to earn the right of a play-off against the twelfth side of the Premier League.

But Santa Lucia's performance left much to be desired at times, especially in the second half. Santa Lucia were the better team in the first half and looked set for an easy victory taking a two-goal advantage by the half way line.

But on the resumption Santa Lucia were rather plucky especially at the back, and Vittoriosa took control of the game even managing to pull one back half way through the second half. The side from Cottonera now pushed forward with the Santa Lucia defence at odds.

However with Suda's runs on the left Santa Lucia had several chances in their breaks, even hitting the upright through Mosquera Segura. Deep in stoppage time Italian import Manuel Guillari finally sealed for Santa Lucia with his side's third goal.

Newly promoted found a stumbling block yesterday as they suffered a surprising defeat at the hands of Pembroke. Pembroke took an early lead and then defended for long stretches of the match, only to score a second goal five minutes from time to seal the issue.

This win leaves Pembroke with a remote chance of making it to third place, even though only three matches remain till the end of the season. For Sirens this was an unexpected setback as they are still fighting to win the championship race after earning promotion in midweek.

Pembroke took the lead on 14 minutes with a Kurt Borg header, and then had to absorg the pressure which the leaders exhetred for most of the match. Sirens even missed a penalty in the first half when John Nwoba's shot was brilliantly saved by Schranz.

In the second half Sirens continued to attack but were rather erratic at times and Pembroke defended well until substitute Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza scored after a fine run finished with a low drive that gave Montfort no chance to save.

Zejtun and Swieqi figured in a scorless draw in a typical end of season match. To be fair Swieqi had more interest in the final outcome of the game as they are still with a chance to fight for third place and a promotion play-off.

However Zejtun were slightly the better team in this otherwise low profile match, with very scoring opportunities. The match failed to lift off with play mainly in midfield.

Zejtun had the better chances in the first half with two great efforts from Carabott and Spiteri, and two outstanding saved from Swieqi goalkeeper Debattista.

In the second half a Salis Ibrahim run was finished with a low drive just missing the base of the upright and Zejtun were unlucky when a Castano great header slammed against the crossbar with Debattista completely beaten.
