Shooting: Christopher Vella wins the Queen Garage Trap Challenge Cup

Christopher Vella made back to back wins at the Qormi Clay Shooting Club when he claimed the Queen Garage Tyre Service Challenge Cup, a Mini Grand Prix that was organised on three qualification rounds of twenty five clay targets plus Final Stages.

Vella was joined on the podium by junior Athlete Nico Sciberras who finished in the second place and by Michael Grech who took third place overall.

After the qualification rounds, the six Finalists in the Bib number order were;

Nico Sciberras with the score of 66/75, Christopher Vella with 60/75, Jean Pierre Mifsud hit 59/75 and Michael Grech 58/75. A three-way shoot-off to decide positions five and six in the finals saw Rudolph Zammit hitting 57/75+3, Paul Formosa 57/75+2+1 while John Marmara was eliminated with the score of 57/75+2+0.

The Finals results were;

1st Christopher Vella 20/25 + 4/5 + 4/5 + 4/5 + 10/10, total score 42/50

2nd Nico Sciberras 20/25 + 3/5 + 3/5 + 4/5 + 10/10, total score 40/50

3rd Michael Grech 19/25 + 3/5 + 2/5 + 4/5, total score 28/40

4th Paul Formosa 19/25 + 3/5 + 2/5, total score 24/35

5th Rudolph Zammit 17/25 + 4/5, total score 21/30

6th Jean Pierre Mifsud 16/25, total score 16/25

The top Shooters in their respective classes concluded their qualification rounds with the following scores;

1st John Marmara 57/75

 

Class B

1st Nico Sciberras 66/75

2nd Christopher Vella 60/75

3rd Jean Pierre Mifsud 59/75

 

Class C

1st Paul Gatt 42/75

2nd Brian Zammit 42/75

3rd George Grech 41/75
