Caetano Da Silva scored a late penalty to give Zebbug a slender victory over Mqabba in a low profile match.
It was sweet revenge for Zebbug coach Clive Mizzi who started the season at the helm of Mqabba, but had to resign after a very bad spell. He later joined Zebbug who had parted ways with Edgar Degabriele.
Under the guidance of Mizzi Zebbug made great strides forward, leaving definitely the relagation zone and moving in the top part of the standings.
A draw would have been a fairer result yesterday as Mqabba dominated the match in the first half. In the second part Zebbug held the upper hand and had the better chances, and eventually scored the winner from the penalty spot four minutes from time.

Santa Lucia made a bold step towards a play-off for a place in the premier league when they beat Swieqi 3-1 in an entertaining match. It was an almost decisive win for Santa Lucia, against a direct opponent, since Swieqi were still with an outside chance in case of victory.
Swieqi deserved their victory, taming an early lead through Suda, minutes after missing a penalty when Nick Borg blasted high from the penalty spot. On 33 minutes Swieqi were back on level terms with their dangerous striker Salis Ibrahim finding the back of the net.
Eight minutes into the second half Santa Lucia were back in front with a Keith Vella header, and then had to absorb the pressure as Swieqi pushed forward for the equaliser.
But on 90 minutes Santa Lucia put their minds at rest with a third goal scored by Mosquera Segura whose effort hit the upright before finishing at the back of the net.

A goal scored by susbstitue Aaron Hili three minutes from time, left Pembroke fighting for third place, as they now trail Santa Lucia by four points.
But the result means that San Gwann are now mathematically relegated to Division Two next season, joining Marsa who were condemned some weeks ago. For San Gwann it was a disappointing season, always in the last places in the standings, and only having a good spell at the start of the second round winning three games in the first five matches.
But then San Gwann slumped to a series of defeats, with yesterday's defeat being their sixth consecutive one. All goals came in the second half with Mifsud Triganza heading home on 54 minutes, and with Renan Oliveira scoring the equaliser ten minutes from time.
With three minutes to go substitute Hili scored the winner from a corner action, a goal that sent San Gwann to Diviison Two.

Naxxar crushed nine-man Vittoriosa to keep up the fight for third place. With two matches to go Naxxar still trail Santa Lucia by three points.
Naxxar were dominant and were almost already sure of the points at stake with a three-goal lead by half time. In the second half Vittoriosa pulled one back but the Lions roared back adding two furthjer goals and with Vittoriosa reduced to nine men when Irvin Abela was sent off on 76 minutes and Jean Claude Galea followed four minutes later.
The defeat puts Vittoriosa in deep trouble as they are now just one point above Qrendi. With Marsa and San Gwann already relegated, Qrendi and Vittoriosa are now fighting it out to avoid the twelfth place that means a relegation play-off against the third placed in Division Two.

Scorers: Hideyuki Kawamura 9' (M), Jacques Mandjeck 51' (Z), Johan Castano 65', 76' (Z)
Zejtun eased their relegation worries when they beat bottom of the table Marsa, thanks to a great comeback in the second half. Johann Castano added two further goals to his tally to lead his side to an important victory.
Marsa had stunned their opponents in the firts half, taking an early lead with a great Kawamura strike, and then outplaying their more fancied opponents with continous running and pressing ll over the field.
In the second half however Marsa tired out especially after Zejtun scored the equaliser on 51 minutes. From then onwards it was a completely different game, with De Fex and Castano ripping the Marsa defence apart and creating several scoring opportunities.
