Gżira United had numerous occasions in front of goal but had to settle for a draw that arrived late in the game. This game had no particular significance for both teams as Gżira secured their place in Europe for next season while Mosta are safe from relegation for another season.

Several players had a good game namely defenders Tyrone Farrugia, Rafael Morisco and Demir Imeri for Mosta and Clifford Gatt Baldacchino, Edison Bilbao Zarate and Nikolai Muscat for Gżira.

It took only six minutes for Mosta to take the lead. Youngster Zachary Brincat anticipated and headed past Anthony Curmi from close range after a cross from the right by Massimo Sammartino.

After the goal, Gżira held more the initiative but it was only after 17 minutes that they had a shot towards Andreas Vella. Defender Clifford Gatt Baldacchino tried from distance but his effort finished a bit over the bar. Three minutes later, Edison Bilbao Zarate rattled the crossbar with a free-kick from the right side.

Another dangerous action by Gżira on the 28th minute as Sacha Borg crossed to Haruna Garba who tested Andreas Vella from close range but the youngster managed somehow to save the shot.

Gżira could have easily equalised on the 40th minute as they hit the post twice. Firstly Garba dribbled Andreas Vella but was too slow to shoot in goal and hit the upright and a few seconds later a shot by Nikolai Muscat hit the other upright. From the same action, a shot by Zachary Scerri from a central position was deflected and finished centimetres wide.

The second half had a fierce start as with no less than three opportunities in the first six minutes. Nikolai Muscat had a low shot saved by Vella and three minutes later on the other side Akeem Roach gave a perfect ball to substitute James Brincat but his shot was blocked by Curmi. Then Garba passed to Zarate in the box but the midfielder's shot finished wide.

Gżira hit the post again twenty minutes from the end of the game with a shot from a central position by Andrew Cohen that was denied by the crossbar, while Nikolai Muscat scored from the rebound but he was in an offside position.

Mosta were controlling their opponents and even almost doubled on the 89th minute as Rodriguez Ekani tried his luck with a shot from outside the penalty area but Curmi was focused enough to save into a corner.

Mark Miller's team looked to seal another important win after the three points against Birkirkara, but Haruna Garba had other plans. The equalising goal came on the 93rd minute mark as the striker shielded the ball from a throw-in on the right side by Nikolai Muscat and beat Andreas Vella on his bottom left corner.
