Newly crowned champions Sirens had to wait till five minutes from time to earn their last victory and celebrate in style, against a well organised Swieqi side who did not deserve to leave the field empty handed.

The first half had little or nothing to offer. Sirens in obvious festive mood, had more possession of the ball but never really tested the opposing goalkeeper.

Swieqi were more direct in their approach with their attacking tandem of Ayorinde and Salis Ibrahim, very fast an dangerous in their breaks. After barely three minutes Ayorinde blasted high when well placed, and minutes later on the other end a Morgon Filho header went wide.

Sirens goalkeeper Miguel Montfort saved a couple of central shots from Ayorinde and Muscat, and Sirens had a series of dangerous corners that were always cleared away by the Swieqi defence.

The second half was more exciting with Sirens going close on 58 minutes when a Morgon Filho shot was cleared off the goal line bu Sultana. The same Sultana tried his luck at the other end with his shot just going wide.

On 63 minutes Swieqi went close with an Ayurinde powerful run on the left but his final shot was well over the bar. Five minutes from time Daniel Sant was pushed inside the box and from the resultant penalty Morgon Filho fired home.

After the match Sirens were presented with the championship trophy as their numerous supporters started their celebrations for this historic chapter in the club's history.

Pembroke and Zebbug ended their committments for this season with a 1-1 drawwith a goal in each half. It was a typical end of season match, with both teams occupying a healthy mid-table position.

Both sides had their ups and downs this season, and disappointed on the whole, as they had the technical qualities to give a fight for the top positions, but they failed miserably, even facing relegation worries at times.

Yesterday's game was a balanced affair with Pembroke taking a first half lead through Pedrinho, and with Zebbug Rangers obtaining the equaliser twelve minutes from time through Randall Vella.
