Naxxar Lions as expected defeated bottom of the table side Marsa in a one-sided affair, but had to settle for fourth place. Naxxar needed the victory, but also a Lija victory over Santa Lucia to force a decider for third place, but Santa Lucia easily defeated Lija to gain access to the play-off against St.Andrews.

Marsa ended their committments with yet another defeat, their 23rd defeat in 26 minutes, for a dismal season indeed. Marsa had a troubled season on and off the field and their destiny was almost obvious from the early stages of the season.

Naxxar and their coach Steve Damato can be more than satisfied with the fourth place earned after a rather difficult start, in which Naxxar hovered dangerously in the relegation area.

Naxxar missed several scoring chances, but near the end scored three quick goals to obtain a larger victory.

Gudja celebrate their historic promotion to the Premier league with a hard earned victory over Mqabba in a balanced match. Gudja dominated the first half with Mqabba on the defensive.

Jackson Lima had a shot going wide after ten minutes and on 39 minutes Gudja forged ahead when Raphael Kooh Sohna fired home from the edge of the area.

In the second half Mqabba were the better team in the initial stages and obtained a deserved equaliser half way through the sceond half when Ferreira was floored just inside the area and from the resultant penalty the same Ferreiera scored with a low drive.

Ten minutes from time Gudja scored the winner when Jackson Lima scored a gem of a goal direct from a freekick.

Santa Lucia earned the right to face St Andrews in a promotion play-off by easily beating Lija in their last match of the season.

Santa Lucia needed just one point from this final match to clinch third place but made sure with an impressive first half crushing their opponents with four goals.

In the second half, Lija were more in the picture but Santa Lucia's victory was never in doubt and now look forward to their play-off against St. Andrews.

Santa Lucia took the lead on eight minutes with a Jurgen Suda header, and five minutes later Teixeira Maia doubled the score. On 16 minutes Santa Lucia practically sealed the issue when Kevin Ante Rosero scored the third after a fast break.

Erjon Beu missed a penalty on 33 minutes and two minutes later Mosquera Segura scored the fourth. On the resumption Teixeira Maia scored a fifth goal, with Lija scoring a consolation goal on 64 minutes through Erjon Beu.

In the final minutes Rosero scored the sixth, with Lija obtaining the second penalty, which this time Erjon Beu converted in style for a final 6-2 scoreline.

Vittoriosa will have to play a play-off against Mgarr to keep their First Division status after yesterday they could only draw 2-2 against ten-man San Gwann, who together with Marsa were already relegated to Division Two next season.

Vittoriosa wanted the victory hoping for a slip from Qrendi against Zejtun in the other match, but Qrendi made a late comeback to earn victory against Zejtun, to render an eventual Vittoriosa victory useless.

Vittoriosa were the better team in the first half taking the lead six minutes from the break when Liam Gauci shot home the rebound after his shot from the penalty spot was saved by the San Gwann goalkeeper.

However San Gwann had an impressive start in the second half, scoring two goals  inside the first five minutes to take a surprise lead. San gwann were reduced to ten men on 70 minutes and Vittoriosa immediately obtained the equaliser, which was still not enough for them.

Vittoriosa pushed forward in the dying minutes but the best scoring chances came San Gwann's way who were very close to a stunning victory.

Qrendi obtained a dramatic victory with two late goals against Zejtun to make sure of another season in the First Division league. Qrendi started this match with a point-lead over Vittoriosa who were facing San Gwann in the other match.

Qrendi faced a difficult start goiung behind with and Andelkovic strike on 25 minutes, with the same player missing a good scoring opportunity for a second goal heading just over the bar.

Qrendi were more determined on the resumption but were jolted on 58 minutes when Zejtun were awarded a penalty and Qrendi reduced to ten men when Melvin Busuttil was sent off.

But Qrendi were saved by their goalkeeper who saved Castano's penalty. Six minutes from time Qrendi were awarded a penalty for a handling infringement and Ciro Quaranta made no mistake from the spot.

Qrendi made sure and completed their incredible comeback when Jonathan Silveira Da Silva headed home the winner on 88 minutes.
