Norman Darmanin Demajo will not re-contest for the position of president of the Malta Football Association when his term expires in June.

Making his announcement in Tuesday's meeting of the MFA executive, Darmanin Demajo said he was speaking weeks before the election to end any speculation about his future.

“I have always stated that any announcement related to my position would be made in the appropriate fora,” Darmanin Demajo said.

Darmanin Demajo was elected to the post in 2010, defeating Joe Mifsud in a hotly-contested election.

Demajo has been instrumental in working closely with clubs to enable them to upgrade their infrastructure.
