Due diligence

Sunday, 12 May 2019, 08:43 Last update: about 6 years ago

Reference is made to the article entitled ‘Due Diligence? Investors were warned about prospective Maltese citizen, but Identity Malta had no idea’ published in The Malta Independent on Sunday of 5 May 2019.

The following reply is being sent on behalf of the Malta Individual Investor Programme Agency pursuant to and for the purpose of Section 21 of the Press Act (Cap 248):

The Malta Individual Investor Programme Agency always adopts a four-tier diligence procedure which involves the Malta Individual Investor Programme Agency specialised staff, the police authorities and financial specialists, while also external checks from foreign entities.

In this particular case, the Malta Individual Investor Programme Agency has already given its official position responding to the journalist’s answers which were, however, not included in the story. The Malta Individual Investor Programme Agency’s official position on this case is that it is still sub-judice. Any comments on this case will be given once the case is closed.
