Avion Express Malta became the 36th airline to achieve an Air Operator certificate AOC issued by the Civil Aviation Directorate within Transport Malta. Avion Express will start their operations in the coming days with their first Airbus 320 with registration marks 9H-AMA. With this latest addition the Registry has now reached 322 aircraft.

Darius Kajokas, Avion Express CEO stated: "We are constantly working on strengthening our leading position in the industry and expanding to new markets. The decision to establish a subsidiary company specifically in Malta was based upon favourable and strategically beneficial conditions provided by the country. Acquiring a Maltese AOC and AOL opens a lot of opportunities for us which we are looking forward to exploring."

Avion Express Malta is the subsidiary company of Avion Express, the largest narrow-body ACMI operator in the world. Established in 2005, Avion Express is successfully working with clients in Europe, Africa, South America and Asia-Pacific. This year the airline will operate 22 Airbus A320 family aircraft. Avion Express was awarded ACMI Operator of the Year 2019 at Air Transport Awards by International Business News.

The aviation sector in Malta is continuously growing, becoming one of the strongest markets in the world. It is contributing to 2.5% of the country's Gross Domestic Product, while creating more than 3,200 jobs.

A copy of the Air Operator certificate and license was presented to George Lambrianidis, Accountable manager for Avion Express Malta by Capt. Charles Pace, director general for Civil Aviation.
