The Beach Volley competition continued yesterday in Budva, with mixed fortunes for the Maltese teams who both had to face Luxembourg. The women’s team obtained their first victory after suffering two defeats in the opening day, and the men’s team suffered the first defeat after a winning start against Montenegro in the opening day.
The girls Melissa Sue Cheviron and Dominika Dworniczak beat the Luxembourg pair Dajana Volz and Marie Reiterova in two straight sets. Malta won the first set 21-19 and then claimed the first victory by clinching the second set 21-17.
The men’s team made up of Robert Balzan and Manuel Raffa were outclassed by their opponents. Matthias Cloot and Petko Tunchev won the first set 21-15 and then the second one 21-12.
