GSSE 2019, Montenegro: Both relay teams again on the podium as four other medals are won

The first medal of the afternoon was obtained by Alexandra McGonigle when she clocked 33.91 to claim the silver medal in the 50m breaststroke. In the same final Amy Micallef finished fourth with 34.25.

The second medal was a bronze one and was obtained by Mikhail Umnov in the 100m butterfly. Umnov clocked 56.07.

The final two medals came again from the relay teams in the 4x200m categories. The women’s team made up of Mya Azzopardi, Michee Van Rooyen, Sacha Gatt, and Francesca Falzon Young won the bronze medal with 8:32.44.

Andrew Chetcuti, Harry Stacey, Matthew Galea and Dylan Cachia gave Malta the silver medal in the 4x200m relay with a time of 7:46.32.

In the men’s 50m breaststroke Michael Stafrace finished seventh clocking29.90.

Thomas Wareing obtained a new national record with 59.74 in the men’s 100m backstroke, in which he however could only finish in eighth place.

Sacha Gatt finished fifth in the 400m freestyle clocking 4:34.21, and in the men’s 400m freestyle Dylan Cachia finished in seventh place with 4:11.97.

Martina Valletta obtained her personal best finishing ninth in the 100m butterfly clocking her new time at 1:07.80.

In the 200m backstroke Malta had two swimmers in the final with Amy Micallef finishing fifth with 2:40.55 and Alexandra McGonigle in seventh place with 2:46.28
