GSSE 2019, Montenegro: Maltese athletes in action on Wednesday; Malta can claim gold in athletics

Malta can claim its first gold in athletics this evening in the final of the men's 5,000m, in which Jordan Gusman starts as one of the favourites. The track and field competitions start today in the city of Bar, some 47km away from the athletes village which is situated in Budva.

The athletics programme is spread over three days, with the second day on Wednesday, and the third and final day on Friday 31st May.

Another athlete taking part in a final today will be Paula Grech who will compete in the women's 800m final. There will be other Maltese athletes in action in various heats.

Charlotte Wingfield will take part in the womens' 100m heats, whilst Jacob and Omar ElAida Chaffey will take part the men's 100m heats.

Damien Mizzi will take part in the men's 400m heats, and Ian Paul Grech will take part in the Long Jump qualifiers.
